The Carpet Cleaning Industry has been a big part of my life--for near 38 years. During those years, I have had the opportunity to observe the characteristics of successful Professional Cleaners, and friends in their business dealings.
I've also have observed the traits of the unsuccessful: apathy, entitlement issues, lack of professionalism, complaining, and conflict, all of which seem to be encroaching into todays business climate more & more.
Over the years, I have witnessed a dramatic increase in people complaining about anything and everything. (One look at certain boards would verify that) Maybe its just the downturn in the economy, but probably not, I have heard these whiners for decades. Here's my two cents: "Get over it".
Life is not fair! We know that. You can't control situations; only your responses. Thus, you must be in control of your attitude. When you take responsibility of your attitude, you set an example for others including those around you.
Since you have to be at work, why not bring some fun and enthusiasm into your work environment? True Leaders distant themselves from the whiners. Avoid the gossip and the hanging around with the dogs (You'll be guaranteed to catch fleas!), and make your positive attitude as pervasive as possible.
Just my thoughts.
very best to all;
Ed Valentine
