I hear ya Ed.
David unlike most other parts of the country; Florida's economy is tourist driven. We have no real industry here; so skilled labor, votech level, and college level jobs here aren't common.
The minimum wage now is $7.25 per hour; when I started working at 11 it was $1.35. And unlike most companies in this area; we really are insured, bonded, carry workmans comp, dental insurance, and catastrophie insurance. That being said; to start someone at top dollar to train them is actually irresponsible and unrealistic. I have hired and fired to many SO CALLED EDUCATED IICRC Techs that thought they knew how to clean carpet and rugs; when in actuallity all they knew how to do was spend tons of money on chemically balanced fabric brighteners. Because they thought because the boss is just a title. Well just like a few others here; I have several of my so called competitors working part time for me now; and realistically speaking they made mocho bucs the grab it and get it done way. I learned a long time ago to take one step at a time.
