Reading the tea leaves again in Time's cup.

“Life on earth evolved gradually beginning with one primitive species—perhaps a self-replicating molecule—that lived more than 3.5 billion years ago". Another evo just-so story. Referring to a primitive species as a "self-replicating molecule" seems incoherent. And how did he figure out the time to be 3.5 billion years? This evo-twit couldn't remember what he had for breakfast 3.5 weeks ago and he probably can't predict the weather accurately past 3.5 days. The author probably thinks he is making a scientific claim because he is using scientific concepts like "molecule" and "species" but such usages can be illusory. So what is the logical status of his proposition? Science? Pseudoscience? Speculative Materialist metaphysics? Or should we accuse him of bad theology because he left God out of the scenario?
