I am planning a Granite Belt trip too. Lots of Qld. vineyards are trying unusual grapes such as barbera, tempranillo, sangiovese. Had a superb barbera from near Kingaroy.
If you want a good mail order supplier try Vintage Direct (Nick's) in Melbourne. They have a shipment from Chile arriving in September. Some of their Chilean reds are made by a Bordeaux team. Very different to our Aussie reds. The cheapest is a cabernet for $12.00. Not bad. Dan Murphy's have a good Argentine quaffer called "Fuzion" shiraz/malbec. Only 8 bucks. Good for a giggle, about the level of Oxford Landing Merlot.
Where did you go in France? Lovely place. I had 6 weeks, mainly in the south. Did you try Lourdes to see if you could grow a new toe or whatever?
