Intelligent Design is Biblical creationism with the references to the Christian god deliberately removed. This was done by the Christian fundamentalists (like Dembski and the other Discovery Institute clowns) specifically to circumvent the establishment clause of the U.S. constitution's first amendment and make the non-scientific idea more defensible against U.S. court challenges. Any IDiot who tells you differently is a liar.
This dishonest "end run" legal strategy was hopelessly transparent and fatally flawed, and was rightfully thrashed in the Kitzmiller v. Dover decision.
