Does anyone have any experience with Alocasia portora (also seeming called portadora). Now that I dug mine up, the bulb looks very similar to what I call "normal" Alocasia which I've had success overwintering in my dark basement at 50-60 in peat moss relatively dry.
Last year was the first winter I tried the submerged in water in a bucket method I think I heard from or Boca Joe or possibly SSI Joe. That method worked extremely well for Colocasia Black Magic and Xanthoma Lime Zinger. I only have one Portora and wanted to give it its best shot! Anyone do it before?
Also, I have not successfully overwintered Thailand Giant in any way other than continuously growing it in my greenhouse. It was a spider mite magnet, not to mention it took up entirely too much room. I'd sure love to save one this year without growing it. Anyone tried the bucket method for that?
