Snapped a few with the new camera this past weekend. The basjoo isn't doing much, probably becuase I haven't been watering it and I only just noticed that it's proximity to the house excludes it from most of the rain! Whoops! First, M. gigantus. I know, I know, but it's such an awesome specimen plant, over 10' now!
Planted this gc bamboo last spring, and it's rewarded me by blooming this year...
Yucca elata is adding some girth, I'd say these grow 2x the speed of Y. glauca 'stricta':
Y. recurv. x filata, plant #1:
As above, Plant #2:
P. aureosulcata, not a jungle grove yet, but it's getting there!
I missed the needles full bloom, but here is one of the dried flower heads:
Basjoo. Not a monster. Maybe 8 feet at its highest point :
Needle left, and Minot right:
Gunnera is still establishing (left), it has actually grown quite a bit since I planted it:
Some newly planted hardy stuff with (potentially) big leaves. Burford holly in the middle. I predict it'll be dead before Januray!
Rhodos along the edge of the woods, they give much needed greenery in the fall, winter, and spring!
Sale Fargesia sp., got it really cheap at No Frills!!! It's in an opening in the woods:
Partial shot of the cactus bed:
In the precess of clearing some of the underbrush from the woods... Soon I'll have room to plant any tree I want! Notice all the European Buckthorn?
Another shot fo the woods. The tree in the middle is a 'basswood', there are a few unhealthy elms, and everything else is Buckthorn!
Thanks for looking!
