but here in Dundas, west end of lake Ontario, this was taken July 13, 2008: 
Bigleaf magnolia bloomed on June 12 last year, so a month earlier and M. virginiana bloomed starting July 6, a week earlier.
The bloom this year on the bigleaf is a week behind.
