I guess I meant to say that there is a difference between a plant's ability to survive in a wretched existence and its ability to actually perform well and amount to something.
Yes, crape myrtles survive here for me, but they are just boring small shrubs. The foliage is attractive, but nothing I couldn't get in another plant with better hardiness. What they are popular for are those gorgeous flowers.
So, is there any point in giving these a try. Do the dwarf ones perhaps perform better in cooler climates than the regular cultivars?
