Here's what I did to protect my windmill Rick.
The first picture is the end of Sept. 07, the year I got hooked!

The next 2 are around the 3rd week in Dec. protection time. Most likely a bit on the late side. No lights or heat that year. Low outside 5.6 degrees.
This was boat shrink wrap with no vents. Live and learn.
April 4 08 uncovered windmill most leaves burnt and removed. These were the ones worth keeping on. Center of palm untouched. Most likely was damaged from several reasons. Top opened up in Feb for a week or so while I was away. Most likely got to hot in Mar on sunny days. I also never watered it. I was lucky it looked as good as it did.
After a long and pampered season this is what it looked like at the beginning of Sept. It grew all 14 of those leaves over the summer, thank you miricle grow!!!
Here's the cover with me blowing snow on it in Jan. Kind of a crap cover but it did the trick. Coldest temp. tnis year 14 when the side opened up during the coldest day of the year 4 degrees and windy as hell.
Opening the palm Apr 4, untouched by winter. It only took 70 watts of c-9 light when it got in the 20's. It even flowered under there.
I did water it with warm water about 4 time on nice days while it was covered. It worked for me.
Here it is yesterday standing 6 feet with some new friends.
