Its definately less hardy than basjoo.....IMHO
U don't haver to have it right up against a foundation, but close enough to get radiational heat. If u cut the stock in fall, cover with leaves, throw a bucket or garbage can over it, then cover with 5 or 6 bags of leaves..it should have a good chance of making it
