Tried them in the ground here Paul... total mush but not the driest locaton and away from the foundation.
Have a few overwintered indoors, got cold damage, been waiting weeks for a single leaf to emerge from a clearly living 7-8" base-wide pseudostem. Barely moving.
By contrast, outdoor wintered basjoo continues to put out growth through the cool spell and now up to ~4' from nothing.
