They can get burrowing leaf minor which spoils the leaves somewhat. English holly does not have the same problem. I have some that are four to five metres tall. They will lose a lot of leaves in bad winters on the south facing side but regrow new ones fast enough here in zone 6b.

Check out the plants at the vineland reasearch station gardens to see established plants.
