American Holly is a beautiful tree and grows wild all over the place where we live. We have a huge tree in our yard that must be very old. When we moved in it had limbs all the way to the ground and a lot of wild brush growing scraggly all around its base. It took me a few weekends, but I cleared out all the brush and limbed up the tree to about 6 or 7 feet off the ground. Then put some nice root mulch all around the base and man, what a specimen tree it is now. I get compliments on it all the time. It's great at Christmas too. Just go out and clip some foiliage for great decorations around the fireplace mantle.
