Today, October 11th, is the birthday of three people who have done a lot for country music. Two of them are stars, the third a producer.
First, a birthday acknowledgment for DOTTIE WEST. Jim Reeves recorded one of Dottie and Bill West's songs ("Is This Me?"), and then did two duets with Dottie that made for a hit single, “Look Who's Talking" and "Love Is No Excuse". Reeves is also responsible for Dottie getting a recording contract with RCA Victor. Her loss is still deeply felt. From all accounts she was a very sweet person.
Second birthday greeting goes to GENE WATSON, a really fine singer and all around nice guy. Incidentally, Gene included Dottie's "Here Comes My Baby Back Again" in his newest album, "My Heroes Have Always Been Country."
Third birthday wish today goes to my husband, Larry Jordan, producer and writer extraordinaire, who wrote a wonderful book, "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story" and produced such outstanding CDs as the recent 8 CD set, "The Great Jim Reeves," featuring 170 tracks and 92 overdubs with beautiful new instrumental and choral backings. The work he does touches the lives of fans around the world.
Happy Birthday Larry. I hope you have a fantastic day and that the year ahead is filled with many many, amazing surprises and great things. May God richly bless you as you begin another year.
Thank you for all you do and continue to do to keep Jim's legacy alive. Have a wonderful Birthday.
