I read on the CMT site that Jim Ed Brown is being treated for Lung Cancer. I do wish him well with his treatments and that he makes a full recovery.
Jim seemed to take the big brother role with Jim Ed & his sisters during their career. In turn, Jim Ed has shown his appreciation and admiration of Jim and his music.
People forget how Jim helped many get a break in the business. He was loyal to his friends.

Yes, we wish him well in his recovery but let's not rewrite history.
Jim Ed Brown sold his friends Jim and Mary Reeves down the river by being the right hand man of Ed Gregory, the convicted bank fraud felon who ripped off Mary Reeves for over $7 million by manipulating her idiot nephew, the Rev. Bill White, into signing everything over to him before he paid for it, thus relinquishing Mary's security interests. THESE ARE FACTS BASED ON COURT RECORDS and are public knowledge.
Wilma Burgess, a close friend of Mary Reeves, also told me the story of how she called up Jim Ed one day when she learned the Reeves estate had been sold, and told him she was coming over to the warehouse that Mary had near her office in Madison. A time was agreed upon for her to arrive with a truck to retrieve her belongings that were stored there, including a car that had once belonged to Patsy Cline. Wilma's stage costumes and other memorabilia had been in the warehouse.
But when Wilma arrived with a truck and some helpers, her items were GONE! To my knowledge she never got them back.
Mr. Gregory, of course, received Presidential pardons for himself and his wife from Bill Clinton after putting one of Hillary Clinton's brothers, Tony Rodham, on the payroll as a "consultant" for hundreds of thousands of dollars -- then, according to Congressional records -- not being able to explain exactly what it is that Mr. Rodham did to EARN that money. Other information suggests that Gregory also loaned Rodham some money. Coincidence that the Gregorys then got a pardon, huh?
Jim Ed Brown was up to his eyebrows in helping Ed Gregory on his various "projects" so I cut him no slack.

A lot of people will be your "friend" until there is money involved. If Jim Ed Brown helped Gregory, I'm fairly certain Brown gained financially from that.
I am sure that Almighty God has kept a detailed record of everything that has happened, and God knows exactly what everyone's motive is, or was. All accounts will be settled eventually. And justice will be administered as God sees fit.

Was not aware of his direct involvement with Gregory. Too bad - after everything Jim did to help him along back in the day.

Naturally I am sympathetic to Jim Ed Brown and the health woes he is now experiencing.
I had a dear friend who was like a sister to me who died a couple of years ago from lung cancer, so I know how devastating that illness can be.
However, when someone becomes sick or passes away, we often have a tendency to canonize them and forget some of the bad things they may have done that are worth remembering!
It is a fact that Jim Ed Brown worked for Ed Gregory and was certainly privy to how Ed was decimating the Jim Reeves estate, destroying his legacy, auctioning off memorabilia that Jim and Mary had spent their lifetimes preserving...and then ultimately ripping off Jim's widow for millions of dollars as she lay dying in a nursing home. This is not a matter of opinion -- these are established FACTS as confirmed through court testimony and is a matter of public record.
