I promised you three surprises and here's the third: A new CD that contains NEW SONGS you have never heard Jim sing before, along with 22 new overdubs of some terrific Reeves tracks. These are songs he did NOT record at RCA and were instead culled from rare and obscure demos and radio performances. But they have been expertly cleaned up and restored so that they sound like studio masters.
The CD is called "JIM REEVES RARE & UNRELEASED" and once again it was produced by VoiceMasters head Larry Jordan, with his VERY talented team of musicians and arrangers.
The Good Music Store has made arrangements to have the exclusive offering on this CD so I am not selling it here, but you can order it at the link below.
In the meantime I want you to hear a sampling of the WORST original track on the CD: "You're Slipping Away From Me." This was a recording that Jim did just singing into a tape recorder at the dining table of Hollywood publicist Bea Terry. It was not even done in his home studio.
Mary Reeves was aware that songwriter Bobe Wes had the only copy and she tried for years to acquire it. But he told her he would only sell it to her when she was down to her last few unreleased songs. Finally a deal was struck, but not without some acrimony on both sides.
Mary made a big deal out of this very inferior song, and it was released on an RCA LP but sounded dreadful.
But not any more!
Just listen to the magic that has been performed thanks to the creative input and incredible talent of Arne Benoni.

I am absolutely thrilled "You're Slipping Away From Me was overdubbed. I always liked this song but thought the RCA backing was absolutely atrocious. This new version is wonderful - the song finally got the backing it deserved!
