I would like to share some information I have about 'Galaxy' radio here in Canada. They are the main broadcast company that is available to all cable and satellite television customers. They provide any kind of music to its listeners 24/7. I wrote to Greg Torrington (country classic programmer)to inquire if he would be offering any special programming to recognize the 50th. anniversary of losing Jim Reeves in a fatal plane crash. I briefly explained the tragic loss of Jim and Dean Manual on that fateful day of July 31st. 1964. I also wanted to let him know of the very active following that Jim (the man and his music) has so many years after losing him. I have noticed that on any given day, Greg plays five or six of Jim's songs, and I have let him know how much this is appreciated.
Here is the reply I received : Thank you for your interest in 'Galaxy', your musical universe. We appreciate you taking the time to send us your feedback regarding Jim Reeves. We have forwarded your comments and suggestions to our programmers for further consideration. They will make note of the date and try to play more of his songs than usual on that day. Please rest assure that your input will be taken into account......'Galaxy support team'. I am really surprised I got any kind of reply, but thankfully did. Seems to be a glimmer of hope for us after all. I have this sense that other stations will do the same IF they are aware of this date, and the active fan base around the world. Hope this helps a bit to spread the word, maybe someone else can add to this. Thanks to all--Forever a fan............Roy
