Mr. Bussey has been following the thread on this Fan Forum pertaining to the discussion of Jim's morals. He posted a long winded, moralistic diatribe again in which he commented "Jordan did not have to tell every little sexual story, anecdote, or rumor he collected on Reeves."
BELIEVE ME DAVID, I *DIDN'T* TELL ALL I KNOW.
Bussey then accuses me of saying "something about sex on just about every other page in every chapter. It makes one wonder just who was obsessed with sex."
This is crazy talk, and easily disproven by anyone who merely just goes to Amazon and randomly selects the Look Inside the Book feature if you don't own a copy. Peruse the book and see if you can find sexual references everywhere throughout it. You can't.
Bussey writes "Jordan might be feeling some heat from various places because of all the sexual smut he included in the book, and so he's employing the old tactic of using a straw man. Instead of defending his use of sex and more sex in his book, he's diverting the attention away from himself and placing it on Jim."
More insanity. The REVEREND who compiled the index to my book is a respected member of the clergy and took it upon himself to spend over 100 hours meticulously going over the book and compiling an index for it, unbeknownst to me. Then he magnanimously offered it to the fans and a link is posted at the top of this page so you can download a pdf copy for free. Do you think this devout man of faith is some craven, sex-obsessed pervert? He didn't find anything in my book about human weaknesses that couldn't also be found in the BIBLE...in fact, a lot less Mr. Bussey.
David Bussey comments that "Jim's sexual escapades had nothing to do with using that wonderful voice and talent for recording and performing his music." Actually, he's wrong about that. Jim's romantic impulses had a big impact on his ability to choose and sing the right kind of songs to move women. He commented on this himself and said that a large percentage of his audience was female.
Mr. Bussey concludes by saying of me "his main motivation is profit." SO WHAT IF IT WAS? What's wrong with being rewarded for one's efforts?
However, I assure you, the 13+ years I worked on the book and invested tens of thousands of dollars in doing so, have not been and never will be recouped. Anybody who thinks an author would spend that kind of time just for a profit motive is beyond delusional. They are mentally ill.
And THAT, fans, is the bottom line when it comes to Mr. B.
But I want to thank him for stimulating sales. The way he makes my book sound so salacious will no doubt prompt some people to rush online to buy it. And after all, the only reason I'm even involved in the Reeves scene is because of all the money I make hand over fist. Right David?
And one more time. Every time this hypocritical moralist attacks me I will remind readers they can HEAR MR. BUSSEY FOR THEMSELVES IN A TAPED INTERVIEW IN WHICH HE IMPLORES ME TO DISH THE DIRT ON REEVES. He repeatedly urged me to tell the truth about Jim's foibles, and told me he wouldn't respect me if I didn't. But even before the book came out he was trashing it as smut. Click the link below to HEAR the real David Bussey.
And then ask yourself why Arie Den Dulk who STILL hasn't removed the banner of Leo Jackson across the top of his page (that Leo's widow, Nell, has every right to insist be REMOVED as it conveys a false impression), shamelessly continues to post this delusional crap from Bussey.
One postscript worth noting: If my book is obsessed with sex, why is it that MEMBERS OF THE REEVES AND WHITE FAMILIES ORDERED SCORES OF COPIES OF MY BOOK TO GIVE AS CHRISTMAS PRESENTS this past holiday?

After going back and listening to that phone conversation again, it just amazes me even more that Mr. Bussey would be saying the things he is saying now. You did exactly what he encouraged you to do, and the only thing he would respect - tell the truth. How hypocritical, to say the least!
I don't even have to go back and look at the book to see if Mr. Bussey's accusations were correct--I KNOW they're not! I have no idea what book on Jim Reeves he could be describing, because it certainly isn't the book you wrote, Larry! What possesses someone like Mr. Bussey to keep twisting the truth when his words to the contrary can be heard on this website?! That's rediculous on so many levels, it boggles the mind!
Larry is telling the truth about the orders for his book. We were surprised that two years after its publication, if anything it has been even more enthusiastically embraced by members of Jim and Mary's families. I won't tell you who, but one close family member of Mary's ordered A DOZEN COPIES of the book to be sent as Christmas presents. The daughter of another well known person to our surprise ordered one too. A certain fellow in Dallas bought a copy and ironically another family member also bought one to send him. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
It would amaze you if you knew how far and wide this book is reaching and there are deals pending in India, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia for distribution there.
People recognize quality when they see it, and "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story" is the most amazing, day by day account of Jim's life anyone could have written. If you haven't read it yet, you owe it to yourself to get a copy -- or convince your local library to buy it if you can't afford it.
I owe you an apology Larry,I'm sorry that I kept on about Jims' fondness for teenage girls and young women,as you stated in your book:-'Jim was a dedicated womaniser',and I guess he was far from 'unique' in that respect, and probably still goes on today, and will continue to do so,all part of the business I guess. I certainly admire you for your dedication and hard work in producing this Epic piece of work, and thank you for many entertaining nights reading.
