In memory of my brother...a true Jim Reeves fan... Posted by Mike Slater on September 8, 2009, 4:09 pm 205.188.117.66 This morning, my brother Bill passed away. He was 68 years old. I mention his passing here because, like our Mom and myself, Bill was a big fan of Jim's. It was always great to share the love of Jim's music with my Mom and my brother. My Mom passed on in 1976, and now they are both gone. I live on Long Island and Bill lived in Florida. We didn't get to see each other very often in recent years, but when we spoke on the phone, we would talk about Jim quite a bit and how both of us came to know him through our Mom. She was the first to bring Jim's music into our home, and we grew up listening to it and appreciating it more and more as the years went by. Bill wasn't a computer person and claimed he never wanted one, so he has never seen this website. However, I wanted to pay tribute to him here because of his love for Jim Reeves and his music. I think he would like that.  Post a Response

My condolences to you and your family. It's ironic for me that I would be in the great State of Texas when this happened. On the way back from my work site in the Ft Worth area this afternoon, I was listening to Willie's Place on Serrius Radio and they talked about the Heart of Texas Museum in Brady Texas, and mentioned that Big Blue, "Jim Reeves tour bus was on display there." I was fortunate to see it twice at the Jim Reeves Museum in 1984 and 1986 on my first two trips to Nashville. So I wish you the best and I'll keep you, your brother and your family in my prayers.
