Hi Larry, On the subject of Titanic, i used to look after an elderly lady who had been aboard Titanic just shortly before she departed on her fateful maiden voyage. Apparently, this lady was a friend of one of the crew, a steward if i recall correctly and she was sneaked aboard in order that she could see for herself what Titanic looked like on the inside. This was around the time the wreck was discovered and naturally enough it was all over the front pages of the press and TV. At first Annie did not believe that they had really found Titanic,s final resting place no matter what we told her she could not be persuaded that this was true. However, someone then showed her a simple picture taken by a small R.O.V. that had been sent into the interior of the vessel. This picture was of a chandelier that was still hanging from the ceiling in time and space. Somehow Annie,s memory was jogged, and only then was she finally convinced that the Titanic had really been discovered. From then on it was just as if a switch had been flicked and she would recount to others just how beautiful the ship was on the inside. Her friend the steward perished in the disaster and perhaps this was the reason why she did not speak of the ship all that much but i find it amazing that a simple thing such as a light fitting could bring back a flood of such memories. Obviously she had seen the very same chandelier on board and it had somehow stuck in her memories all these years. It's strange how something so mundane can revive so many memories. Annie passed away some years ago but i shall never forget the look on her face when she was telling us about the things she had seen all those years ago. I just thought you would liken to know about this lady. John.
