Mitch Torok played the guitar and sang the song "I Hate Me (For Loving You)" when I interviewed him several years ago. I can easily imagine Jim recording it. However, if my understanding is correct, Mitch composed the song, and only incidentally brought it to Jim's attention during a phone conversation, whereupon Mitch says Reeves made a suggestion or two. It was not some close or lengthy collaboration. A singer by the name of Joe Rucker got Hank Locklin to sing "For Just A Little While Tonight" with him (it was intended as a duet), and you can hear it by clicking the link below. In fact, Jim and Hank worked on the song briefly during an RCA session. I will have more details in my book. (Yes, I know it's been a long time coming but it's getting closer and closer every day). If you listen to the audio sample on the page linked below, you can hear how pretty this song was for Jim to sing. (When you arrive at the site, scroll down and click the link to the song, which will be on the left side of the page). Incidentally, if you would like to listen to the entire song, it is available to purchase for 99 cents on Apple iTunes.
