Thanks to all of you for your kind expressions of sympathy in the form of e-mails, e-cards, and posts here on the Fan Forum. Marcus Bates lived a good life and he will be missed by many. His dear friend (and "blood brother") Jim Reeves was featured in a big way at the funeral, It began with a recording of the song "He Will" sang by Jim, and at various times during the service my brother-in-law sang "Across The Bridge" and "This World Is Not My Home". After the main message we played one of Dad's favorites,"Where We Never Grow Old". Over the sound system before the service other sacred selections from the Reeves song library were playing in the background. Our pastor came to our city from Carthage, so he is very fond of Jim's music. He even quoted some of the lyrics from some Reeves songs in his message. You may read the published obituary if you wish at: http://www.legacy.com/SulphurDailynews/Obituaries.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=124136604 I hope and pray that Dad and my Mom are now reunited with Jim and other family and friends. I got to meet alot of folks that are Jim Reeves fans at the funeral home, people that did not know that Dad and my family knew him. Thank You Larry for the nice annoucement about Dad's passing, and again on behalf of all of the Marcus Bates family, thank you for your concern, prayers and kind words of comfort. Please keep us in your prayers. Greg Bates
