Posted by AllenC This week I contavted Ray Walker at his office and he put me thru to Millie at her home in Nashville. Little has been documented and said about the legendary vocalist who added so much depth and emotion to so many classic records since the 1950's. I have been compiling a list of session vocalist for a project I have been putting together that celebrates these artist who help make everybody else sound better, Millie was part of the Anita Kerr singers who worked with Jim. She recorded hits with everybody from Brenda Lee's "I'm Sorry" to George Jones, "He Stopped Loving Her Today". Her haunting soprano added so much depth to recordings and is unmistakable. She confirmed tonight that she had kept a log in the 50's, 60's and 70's of all her session work but has lost her 1950's book was lost long ago and she cannot remeber all her sessions because she was constantly working and the fact that many of the songs she worked on became classics was an afterthought. She said that keeping these logs was vital that she got paid in those days. I asked a few questions about Jim and she said he was a perfectionist in the studio and would insist on re-recording songs to his satisfaction!
