Posted by Mr. Even Bjerkelien The beautiful song "Deep Dark Water" (one of my favorites by the way) was first released on the album "Blue Side of Lonesome" RCA Victor LSP-3739 in 1967. A good album. It contains all these great songs: Side 1 ... 1. Side 2 ... 1. I Won't Come In While He's There It contains so many classic songs, it's hard to pick a few favorites. The only song I'd say is a bit weak is "Seabreeze". It's not a bad song and stands out from the all the other recordings Reeves ever made, but still not as good as the rest of the lot on this album. What a sad story about your Reeves collection... Thankfully, you can buy most of them on eBay, but it takes time and money. Sincerely Mr. Even Bjerkelien

Posted by JULIE (Webmistress) on 12/5/2007, 9:48 am, in reply to "Re: deep dark water" Many fans have emailed us to say they think the VM version is far superior. The RCA one that was done so many years ago, was in my opinion over-produced and really cluttered up. Not only that, RCA for some strange reason speeded up Jim's voice, and thus changed the pitch! On the VoiceMasters version, however, Jim's voice really stands out, and you get to hear him the way he really sounded when he recorded the song. Plus the fresh new instrumental arrangement is so pretty, with the mandolin, Chet Atkins-style guitar and strings. I know that VM worked from an original tape of the song and then added the new instruments, hence it sounds fantastic. You can listen to a sample of this song for yourself by clicking the link below.
