Link: Dixie Hall
When Mary was on the board of a big music industry organization and commuting to New York monthly, she commented in one interview she was hurrying back to Nashville because she didn't want to miss the fun and elaborate party at Tom and Dixie's party that they held annually at their home. They were locally famous for their soirees. Tom, Dixie, Mary and Terry Davis also went hunting together.
Dixie Dean (before she married Tom), conducted the most extensive print interview ever published with Mary. It appeared in Music City News magazine. The publication was owned by Faron Young and I really miss it. It was a tabloid newsprint publication that did a fabulous job of covering the Nashville scene. Dixie became its editor.
She did a brilliant job of asking the right questions and eliciting some expansive answers from Mary, some of which I quoted in my book, "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story."
Dixie was born in England, West Midlands, near Manchester where Jim Reeves had performed on TV.
She and Tom met in late 1964 at a Nashville event and were married a few years later.
Dixie was also a talented and prolific songwriter.
Even after she developed a brain tumor she wrote one last, beautiful song as a gesture of love.

My condolences to Tom and all those who knew and loved "Miss Dixie."
