In 1958 my family drove to Nashville which seemed to be our favorite spot to vacation at that time. We stayed in a motel as there were five of us.
During one of our visits with the Reeves Mary asked us if we'd like to go to the Ice Follies with her. She said she loved to go to things like that but Jim didn't and it was no fun to go alone.
We said "Sure", so she drove the Cadillac to our motel, picked us up and took us to the Follies. She bought the tickets for all of us, bought cotton candy for the kids and herself. She was just like a kid and thoroughly enjoyed herself, and we all did too.
Another time we were visiting them in their home and Mary made the comment that Herb Shucher's wife had a maid to do her housework and she said "I'm still scrubbing my kitchen floors!" Jim said "I gave away my first million, the next one is mine". Soon after that Herb was no longer his manager.
Mary was quite a gal. She had a very infectious laugh. Jim did too, for that matter. They were a perfect pair.
