Link: BBC TRIBUTE TO JIM
The show features some VoiceMasters overdubs, excerpts from "The Jim Reeves Show" broadcasts released by VM on a 5 CD set, plus extensive use of new audio of Jim talking that first premiered on the VM 2-CD set "Jim Reeves: The New Recordings" -- all of which are available on my site at www.jim-reeves.com/page2.html -- plus 13 quotes from Larry Jordan, author of the award-winning 672 page book, "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story."
One aside: The BBC2 was only granted use of this material by VoiceMasters and Once In A Blue Moon Records with the proviso it would properly credit the source but BBC2 failed to do so. This is not the first time the Brits have turned to us for help and then not given credit.
Anyway, it's a well-done show despite various factual errors.
When you hear Mary talking she refers to the float trip that Larry described on the BBC and also wrote about in his book.
Tom Orie, who runs a small Reeves fan site overseas, has posted this BBC2 radio tribute to Jim and combined it with very rare photos. (It would also have been nice had he asked permission first to use some of our pics but oh well).
Since there are so few tributes to Jim being aired this summer -- the 50th anniversary of his passing -- this broadcast is very special and you need to hear it.
