As far as I know, the only U.S. tribute to Jim will be held Friday July 25th in Henderson, TX (where Jim got his first job as an announcer, at KGRI). The Jim Reeves 50 Year Anniversary Tribute Show, hosted by his nephew John Rex Reeves, will be held at the Henderson Civic Theater at 7:00 p.m. It will feature a Talent Show. For contestants interested in performing or for ticket info, contact 281-852-8308.
Meanwhile, one of John Rex's cousins is publicly questioning on the web why she isn't making any money on the new CD releases, the implication being that royalties are owed her. This is the same woman who disclaimed any interest in financial matters and told us for years she was only trying to protect Mary's estate. I'll be anxious to see what she has planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of her uncle's passing. Maybe a book burning?
A recent post on the web claimed the Shreveport-based Reeves family member was going to court yet this month to stop my book from circulation, and publicly warned me of "recrimination" for all my supposed "lies" about Jim.
Happy Sunday everyone!
