As for "I'm half drunk and it's dark thirty", well, "I'm half drunk" means that he has been drinking and is a little high, but can still function fairly well, and "it's dark thirty means it is a little past dark. The two things used together are sort of a lame excuse for what he is doing not turning out as well as he had hoped.
That is my take on it, but I am open to being corrected.
