Billy Deaton, a good friend of Jim Reeves, recently passed away. He was signed to Jim's fledgling Shannon record label to cover a song that Jim eventually recorded called "Is It Really Over?" Billy also booked Jim on many shows, and wrote a number of famous songs recorded by other artists.
There is an interesting article on Billy (linked to below) but notice that they make only an incidental reference to Jim Reeves, and typically don't credit Reeves for helping Billy as much as he did. So what else is new?
