Sad to read about the passing of Al Martino. Al was a long time country music fan who enjoyed a top 10 success with" I Love You Because" in 1963.
Personally, it pales in comparision to Jim's version. Funny, in 1964 it was a # 1 song in Norway for Jim. It makes me wonder how short sighted RCA records was to promote Jim's Album cuts as a Pop/Adult Singles - it would of enhanced his career greatly. RCA did a horrible job of promoting his U.S. Material in the early 60's - I believe it greatly diminished the 1960 high Jim enjoyed and it took another 4 years to get it back.
