I remember the British broadcast well. My guess is(and Vietnam was a very sensitive politcal issue then because of course the record was released at that time just because Vietnam made it evocative)that the BBC chose footage that would not make a political statement.

Incidentally, and this is not mentioned much, I believe that not only did Distant Drums get to #1, but it became the biggest UK #1 of 1966!
