To All,
Another important date in Jim Reeves life is being remembered here this evening. I was thumbing through the big blue (how appropriate) binder last night that I have, of info I have accumulated over the last 11 or so years, and realized that today was what would have been Jim and Mary's 62nd Wedding Anniversary. It is also interesting to note that Jim had his last recording session at the old Methodist TV and Radio Studio on Mc Gavock St (it was demolished in Jan 2006 to make room for a parking lot)on this date in 1957, which was of course, Jim and Mary's 10th Wedding anniversary. That studio is where RCA leased space until Studio B opened in Nov of 1957, and many famous records were recorded there including Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel. The major hit recorded by Jim that day was Anna Marie, writen by Cindy Walker (#3 for 7 weeks on the Billboard Disc Jockey Singles Chart early in 1958), and it was also included in the Girls I Have Known LP. It was/is quite a lucky and memorable date for both Jim and us.
Regards,
Don
