Just returned from Nashville where we attended the Source Awards. Joyce Jackson received an award for her outstanding contributions to the County Music Industry. She is well deserving of this award and although she is not a blood relative, she is ever bit family.
Jim and Mary would have been so proud of her. As I sat there watching her receive this award I couldn't help but remember all the little notes that she enclosed in packages sent to me when I was a child. Or how she sat with me in court time after time. Oh, I can't forget the many times that she has gone to bat for me in some sticky situations. But most importantly, I remember the compassion and love she had for Mary. Joyce was indeed more than an employee of Jim Reeves Enterprise, she was the mechanism that held the business together for so long and she was a loyal friend.
She is well respected in the music industry and that was evident on Thursday night. Joyce never puts herself first and as she gave her speech, it was all about thanking others.
Jim Reeves Enterprise and her relationship with Jim and Mary afforded her many opportunities but it was the Enterprise that benefitted most.
I am so proud of her and I am proud to say that she is my dear friend and loved one. Many, Many, Congrats!!!
