Hi Gang,
Long time no talk to! It's getting to be the sad time of the year again for JR fans, and the first of the last things Jim did his last month with us was to record his last session at the "Home of a Over 1000 hits," RCA Victor's famed Studio "B." The last song recorded was Don Gibson's biggest song as a songwriter "I Can't Stop Loving You" which has been recorded I believe over 700 times. "Missing You" and "Maureen" were also on the list, I can't remember the other two off the top of my head, getting too old I guess.
Also, I have got the Special Guest lined up for our 6th Annual Jim Reeves Tribute Show on "The I's Have It," Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ol' Opry Star Whisperin Bill Anderson has graciously consented to call us this year and we'll ask him some things about his association with Jim, the songs he wrote for him and how Jim came about recording them and how Bill recorded some of the songs Jim wrote (he did for some of his early albums). I'm going to put together a program of Country Music Hall of Fame (CMHOF) related music, featuring songs Jim recorded that were written by Hall of Fame members, and possibly Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame Members as well. Jim had nearly 30 of his hits written by CMHOF members (including the ones he wrote himself, and I have not yet gone through the big notebook I have with the Session File in it but I'm sure he had well over 100 songs recorded that were written by HOF members, he had 80 that he wrote himself and I think he recorded them all. I'll attempt to pick out the cream of the crop and Bucks and we will have another interesting show for you all. The radio program will be on the Bucks Braun Morning Show on Friday July 31 from 7 AM - 12 Noon EDT on WBZI, AM 1500 Xenia OH; WKFI, AM 1090 Wilmington OH; and WEDI, AM 1130 Eaton OH; and around the world on the Internet at www.myclassiccountry.com . Hope you all can join us again this year.
Regards,
Don
