I have just been viewing some performances by Jim's backing band The Blue Boys on the Jimmy Dean show and did not realise just how great they were as instrumentalists on their own. Their performance of "Wheels" and "Red River Rock" on the Grande Ole Opry TV Show was immense. Of partcular note was Dean Manuel's great rendition of "Last Date". How this guy did not have a chart smash of his own beats me. He certainly would have given Floyd Cramer a run for his money.
The band certainly did enjoy themselves, and it shows in these performances. With or without Jim The Blue Boys were very talented.
