This has to be one of my least favorite songs that Jim released as a single.

Years back, I read a biography by Bill Anderson. He claimed that RCA made a huge blunder by releasing "I'm Getting Better instead of the Anderson penned I Missed Me. Anderson felt his song was a better follow-up single after He'll have to Go. He felt it slowed Jim's momentum greatly and he spent the rest of career seeking a release that could rival He'll have to Go. 1961 proved to be a lackluster year for singles for Jim. Maybe Bill had a point.
