Like most of us, Jim owned several watches over the years, but the one he was wearing on the day he was killed was destroyed in the crash. The only thing left of it was the dial, sticking sideways in the ground. I'm curious to know why you asked? His $5,000 diamond ring, however, was recovered and restored. It sustained so much damage from the impact that the diamonds fell out into powder when the jeweler (in New York) began working on it. Incidentally, the ring on display in the Jim Reeves museum was a replica. Mary was afraid that somebody would smash the display case (which was near the back door) and run off with the real one.
