I knew Hank quite well and he was truly one of the nice guys. I've shared this little story with others several times and it's in my book under Justin Tubb's portion of the book. Justin used to love getting us all together on a Sunday and go out to Edwin Warner Park in Nashville and play softball and picnic all day long. It was always so much fun and one Sunday Hank stayed over after doing the Opry on Saturday night just so he could join us for a day of fun and fellowship. All day long we'd gather wood so we could have a big campfire to roast hot dogs and marshmellows after it got dark. The park closed at 11 PM and we always stayed till it closed. We had all gathered around the campfire and we were in a rather rectangularar area surrounded by tall trees. Somone always had a guitar and just as the moon came up over the trees, Hank got the guitar and began singing "Send Me The Pillow (You dream On)". I have never heard it sung any more beautifully than it was sung that night just out in the open. What a great memory that has been for me. but that's just one of many wonderful memories that I have shared in my book. Believe me I am trying to get a publisher interested!
Hope you can picture what I have shared.
We will truly miss Hank and our prayers go out to his family. Maybe he and Jim are now having a good ole reunion! I hope so.
Always for you Jim
Joyce
