Hi John: Seeing as you addressed this to me, I will try and answer what we knew about Jim. He was definitely a very humble man. He never seemed to know how good he really was. He's the type you (or I) would have liked for a brother- someone you could confide in and he'd listen and give you a straight answer.
He was never too busy to not greet his fans and sign autographs. He always came out after a show to visit and do that.
The only time I saw Jim answer back to a fan from stage was when a man kept hollering for Jim to sing "I wanna hold your hand". Jim said "I don't know it and I only do my songs". Finally, in disgust Jim told him "Hold your own hand!" He got a rousing applause for that.
In his home he and Mary were very good host and hostess. In other words, he was as nice off stage as he was on stage to friends and fans.
We sure have appreciated the time we spent with him and have precious memories and memorabilia.
