Hi all,
While searching through the different anniversary dates for Jim, I note that on this day on November 15, 1962 Jim recorded the 'second half' of his Afrikaans recording session in Nashville, which had begun the day before. At this session (which ran from 19:00-22:00 hours) the following songs were recorded:
NET N STILLE UURJIE
NOOIENJIE VAN DE OU TRANSVAAL
VERRE LAND
MY BLINDE HART
Were these songs overdubs from the recordings made in South Africa? or did Jim completely record them from scratch?
I was lucky enough to recieve a CD of the "JY IS MY LEIFLING" album from a Dutch supplier a few years back and was wondering just how long Jim took to learn the language.
The songs are gorgeous and I never tire of listening to them. It would have been nice to have the English-Afrikaans mixed versions of "Tahiti" and "The Old Kalahari" as bonus tracks. I believe there is a version of the CD out there with bonus tracks, but I have yet to track it down.
Cheers
GARRY
