Steve,
Hot Rod Lincoln was on the Billboard Country Chart for 6 weeks (not months) debuting on 9/5/60 and peaking at #14. It was Charlie Ryan and the Timberline Riders' only chart record and was on the 4 Star label where Patsy Cline was when she started. Two other versions charted, Commander Cody hit #51 on Paramount Records in 1972 and Asleep At The Wheel hit #65 on Epic Records in 1988. Johnny Bond one of Jim's buddies who appeared with Jim on the Town Hall Party in 1959, had it out also on Starday in the '60s also but it didn't chart. The I's have it plays Jonnny's version on their stations.
Regards,
Don
