Thanks for putting me right, Joyce. It definitely is Jeanine not Maxine. Like most people I was not aware that Cindy had a brief marriage. All the biographies that were posted on the Internet at the time of her death failed to mention this.
Regards,
Geoff

: Hi:
:
: You are right David, Bill and Cindy were not
: related, but his wife that you are referring
: to is Jeanine not Maxine. This is Bill's
: second wife. As I stated before, his wife
: that he was married to when he first came to
: the US was named Tina and Cindy was married
: at a very early age, but it only lasted for
: a brief period of time and most do not even
: know about this, but she and Mama Walker
: were good friends of mine and they related
: this to me many years ago.
:
: Bill is truly a talent and I feel good about
: having helped him get over to the US as I
: feel Jim was correct in thinking that he
: would be an asset to Nashville and the music
: industry.
:
: Always for you Jim

: Hi David,
:
: They were not related. Bill was Australian
: born and moved to South Africa. I believe
: the slim, blond lady was his wife, Maxine.
: Cindy was a Texan, born in Mart, Texas, and
: she resided in Mexia, Texas. She never
: married.

: Were Bill Walker and Cindy Walker related? I
: did a session under Bill's supervision at
: the House of Cash in Hendersonville in 1977.
: Bill's wife was a slim blonde. Was that
: Cindy Walker, who wrote many of Jim's songs?

: Jim met Bill Walker in South Africa and
: admired him so greatly that he worked with
: the U.S. State Dept. for a year to pave the
: way for Bill and his wife to move here. Jim
: envisioned working with Bill on his own
: arrangements and a TV show. That shows you
: that Reeves was headed in a pop direction.
:
: Mr. Walker arrived in New York on Thursday,
: July 30, 1964, and spoke with Jim by phone.
: He wanted to stay in NYC and see a Broadway
: show there, and Jim told him to go ahead --
: he'd see him when he got back from Arkansas.
:
: Bill did not work with Jim on "The Jim
: Reeves Way" album. Cindy Walker did not
: produce anything for Reeves either. She was
: simply a close friend and wonderful
: composer, who could write all sorts of
: songs, tailor-made for individual artists.

: I received a wonderful Christmas present
: from
: my daughter, The DVD Highlights of the
: Johnny Cash TV show. It features Bill
: Walker, who led the orchestra on the show.
: The booklet mentions that he came to America
: originally to work with Jim., but that Jim
: died a few months later. Did he do "The
: Jim Reeves Way" album with Jim? Was he
: supposed to take over from Chet Atkins?
: Didn't Cindy Walker produce Jim too?
