Dear Mr.Robyn! My story begins when I was a university freshman, and that means quite a distance from now.
Once I was sitting, listening to the BBC broadcast entytled "Listeners' Choice", a music program for listeners who chose their favorite tunes to be played over by the radio. And then I heard someone's choice, a song called "Roses Are Red". That was the firsr song by Jim Reeves, and eversince I've got absolutely enchanted by his voice, even at that time when I loved the rock'n'roll music and all those newcomers to the rock scene.
I started looking for more of Jim's songs and found a lot of them but very soon I discovered - again listening to the radio - about that horrible crush that took his life. And that was a personal blow for me.
By that time I've already been his dedicated fan. Soon I traveled to the US and there in Boston I purchased my first LPs of Jim which I keep as a treasure, a beginning of my rather modest but still a very beautiful Jim Reeves collection.
Later a trip to Australia followed and there I also managed to get another great record, "Good'n'Country". More records followed bought in many places. I also began my country music collecion where I keep, apart from Jim, many wonderful CD recordings of my fevorite artists.
My record collection is rather big and contains different musical samles, includung classical music, old music, blues, jazz, soul, etc. But sometimes when I come home tired as hell and want cosolation, I turn on my player (a very good&powerful one) an listen to such tunes, for example, as "Adios Amigo", "Is It Really Over", "Mexicali Rose" (you just name them) and I have my Scotch on the rocks and then I have my peace of mind (for a while).
Ain't it great?
During my lifetime I never met anything as beautiful as Jim's voice and I guess I'm simply blessed to have discovered him during my younger years. So I keep Jim's music as the core of my collection continuing to search for moreof his music. Some of the CDs I bought in Moscow which now has splendid music shops.
Thanks for your attention and it will certainly be a pleasure to have you in touch.
Again, many happy returns on the occasion of the New Year and take care!
Sincerely, Dr.Sergei Bolshakov
