Hi: I too was given a wonderful Christmas present today. The long-awaited new CD release by Voice Masters arrived. I immediately had to tear it open and much to my surprise the CD "look" is fantastic! I'm not gonna tell you, you have to purchase it to find out, but it definitely IS NOT black!!
How did Larry and VM know what my favorite JR songs are? I can't believe the awesome sound that comes out of my speakers!
I've always loved Distant Drums but love it more now. Jim's voice sounds brand new, like he just recorded it yesterday.
Is it Really Over is still a sad song but it is so wonderful here.
I think I Love You Because could again become a smash hit the way it is done on this CD if it were to be released as a single. It's just beautiful.
I'm not too crazy about Lonesome Waltz but thrill at the low notes that Jim hits. Wow.
I love the dobro on I'd Rather Not Know! It's too bad Jim didn't get the chance to record with a dobro. They are a great blend.
He'll Have To Go has a new sound with new orchestration. Another smash.
Of course, Rudolph is always great, especially this time of year.
Shepherd of Love is probably my least favorite song on this CD but it is good to hear something new by Jim.
Then it ends with He Will, a fitting song to close a wonderful new show by the master, Gentleman Jim Reeves. He usually closed his shows with a gospel song and then came back for the encore with Danny Boy and brought the house down.
I recommend this new CD for every Jim Reeves fan in the world. Not much new comes out by him any more. In fact, it is amazing how VM and Larry keep digging and coming up with new songs and new arrangements. They are to be commended. Give yourself a Christmas present of this new CD, you certainly won't regret it.
Now I wish to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you great Jim Reeves fans all over the world. I love you all for keeping Jim's memory alive. Thank you, Larry, Julie and Voice Masters.
Always for Jim,
Doris
