: To All,
: Our radio friend, Mr. Bucks Braun pointed
: out the fact today that on his show that on
: Nov 29th 1961, the Grand Old Opry stars hit
: New York City's famed Carnegie Hall stage to
: show their Country stuff to the Downtown
: crowd. Jim was on the show in tux, with
: Grandpa Jones, Patsy Cline, Ernest Tubb,
: Bill Monroe, Minnie Pearl and possibly
: others. I heard they did pretty good, but
: they had some neysayers pan them before the
: performance. Anyone know anymore about it?
: Sure wish they would make a recording of
: that show available, if there was one.
:
: Regards,
: Don
:Hi Don,
I've heard that a famous columnist in New York gave a very detrimental review of this show. Her name I remember was Dorothy Kilgallen. I suppose she thought New Yorkers weren't ready for some good country music.
