Hello Larry, Don't know what happened to my post but it has'n't come up on the site. I want to thank you for the link to the jim reeves crash site, it is just as I remember it from my visit there in 2005.The plane came down behind and to the left of the two story house in Baxter Lane, the house seen in the bottom right hand corner of the photo'.We met a neighbour of the house owner who arrange with the owner for us to gain access to the private grounds, and he kindly escorted us to the exact spot where the plane came down. This was a humbling experience for all of us, and we took several photo's and some camcorder film of the area. We will always be greatful to the kind people of Baxter Lane who took the time to assist a bunch of "Jim Reeves" fans from Scotland. I also would like to say , we hav'n't forgotten "Dean Manuel" in this side of the story. We visited his grave in Nashville while on our trip. HURRY UP!with your book Larry. Sincerely. Colin

: The Google map you have posted has the green
: arrow in the wrong location. To hopefully
: settle this matter once and for all, I have
: posted a screen capture of a Google map
: which shows the specific area where Jim
: Reeves' plane went down. Just click the link
: below to see it.
:
: The crash occurred in a small two-acre woods
: south of some high voltage power lines, just
: off Baxter Lane and Franklin Pike Circle. As
: you can see, to access the scene would
: require crossing private property.
:
: Even today the woods is very dense. Baxter
: Lane itself is a narrow, tree-shrouded
: street that looks more like someone's long
: driveway. In fact, Google had to draw in the
: street; it is otherwise not visible from the
: air in this shot.
:
: Based on radar data, this area was
: pinpointed by airport officials moments
: after Jim's plane went down on July 31,
: 1964, and other aircraft were immediately
: vectored over it within minutes. But nobody
: saw anything from the air. That's because
: the plane descended at a steep angle and
: penetrated the tree canopy without
: disturbing the upper branches.
:
: Ground searchers on late Friday afternoon
: walked past the woods without venturing into
: it. As a result, it took two days to locate
: the wreckage.
