I assume the Top 40 you are referring to is the one that was used in the Bear Family CD set. Here are the numbers I believe were first recorded by other artists.
"Two shadows on your window"
"He'll have to go"
"That's when I see the blue"
"When two worlds collide"
"Am I That easy to forget"
"I'd fight the world"
"Missing You"
"It's nothing to me"
"You're the only good thing"
"Don't let me cross over"
"Oh How I miss you tonight"
"Take me in your arms"
"Have you ever been lonely"
& possibly, "Distant Drums"& "Blue side of Lonesome."
