Hi Tony,
Many thanks for the insight as to what went on with the Jim and Patsy duets i really did not know that there was a potential third song in the works, now that is something new i must say.
However something you said in your post has got me thinking, you said that in order to avoid wear and tear on the master recordings Jims voice part was transferred on to a quarter inch tape. It has got me wondering if over time the source tape will degrade perhaps to the point that the master tapes will no longer be usable and the legacy Jim left behind will be lost.
I wonder if magnetic tape does degrade over time anyway,and if so is anything being done to preserve the material that Jim has left us with.
It's just a thought i know but do you happen to have any ideas i'm sure the same thing must apply to other stars of yesteryear not and only Jim.
